Clearwell Caves

This episode takes us deep under the ground to visit one of the first tourist attractions in the Forest of Dean, Clearwell Caves. The caves are a complex of ancient iron and ochres mines which were opened up to the public in the 60’s by freeminer and cave club founder Ray Wright. Ray's son Jonathan tells us about how they developed the caverns over the years, to create a fascinating, subterranean mining museum enabling people to explore the world beneath their feet.
